As a leadership team we have been closely following the coronavirus pandemic both nationally and locally just like you. The situation in the United States has dramatically changed over the last few days, and it continues to evolve very rapidly. Our President and Governor have asked the nation and our communities to limit gathering sizes and to personally make very deliberate choices for your protection and for the protection of our family, friends, and community. We have included these recommendations and instructions below.
The first thing we as a team want to communicate to the body is that we are not wrapped up with fear surrounding this situation. The Lord did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (1Tim1:7). We are confident in the power of Jesus Christ to provide for all our needs and to work all things out for the overall good of His Church.
With that in mind, we are also called to place ourselves in subjection to the governing authorities (Rom13). As of right now, the governor of our state has instituted a prohibition on large gatherings. Therefore, we have come to the decision to suspend all of our normal in-person services and gatherings until further notice. However, while the doors may be shut, the church is not closed. The body of Christ has an unprecedented opportunity through all of this. Our staff is not taking vacation time or reneging on responsibilities. We are committed to leading the flock through this difficult and challenging season.
Given that things are likely to get worse before they get any better, we want to make sure that the church (the body of Christ) is ready and willing to come alongside one another and bear each other’s burdens. With that in mind, we have several avenues for you to stay in touch with us and to stay in touch with one another. If you have any prayer requests or practical needs, please reach out to the church by clicking the prayer card below.
We are planning to continue live streaming our services as we have been doing. We are looking into updates to our platform that will better facilitate our mission to serve the body as we do so. If you desire to open your home to a very small team to come in and stream a Sunday or Wednesday service from your home, please reach out to the church office. We want to leverage every resource we have to build each other up! If you need a dose of God’s word, you can view our past teachings by clicking Messages below, and you can watch our streams live by clicking Watch. For more information on digital platforms that will allow you to connect with the rest of the body even while you’re stuck at home, click Digital Fellowship.
We remain watchful about all of this, but we are not worried, we are trusting the Lord, and most of all we are praying for you, the body of Christ, that He would have His way in this world, and that all of this will work out to His glory. Remember that trials and tribulations are our friends. They produce in us a maturity in Jesus that we can’t find elsewhere. Consider this challenging season a joyous thing, And remember that as long as we remain in God’s corner, He will work out all these things for the greater good of His church! We are excited to see how God is going to use this situation in our community and in our body! Spend time with Jesus! Live in Him and He will live in you!
We pray Grace and Peace over you all,
The CC Longview Leadership Team
Over the next week, we’d like to ask the body to join us as we pray and fast and seek the Lord over this situation. We want to petition him to remove the virus that’s sweeping through our land and lift the government sanctions so we can resume normal activity as a church. Thank you for your loving dedication as we seek the Lord together.
