Baptism does not save us. You can only be saved by faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. God designed our journey of faith so that when we put our faith in Christ, the person we were before we met Him is put to death and we become "born again" -we become a new person.
Baptism is the next step we take, making a public statement of our faith and symbolizing our transition from death into the new life He has given us.
Acts 2:38-39
Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. This promise is to you, to your children, and to those far away – all who have been called by the Lord our God.”
Acts 19:4-5
Paul said, “John’s baptism called for repentance from sin. But John himself told the people to believe in the one who would come later, meaning Jesus.” As soon as they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
Jesus commanded that all Christians be baptized as an initial act of obedience in discipleship. (Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38). At Calvary, we want to be obedient to Jesus and follow the apostles' lead in baptizing all believers upon profession of Faith in Jesus. (Acts 10:47-48)
If you believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, then you are a new creation and the next step is to be baptized, declaring before God, your church, and your community that you are now part of His eternal family. We are excited to celebrate your new life and obedience to God! Sign up to be baptized by clicking the button below. We can't wait to hear from you!
